Wild West Film  Fest!

February 18-19, 2011

Join us for two days of Wild West adventures, as we learn the history of African-Americans on the Western frontier. Wear your best Western getup and win a prize!

• 8 pm Friday, Feb. 18 — The Federation of  Black Cowboys starring Sapelo’s own Edward Dixon, president of the Federation of Black Cowboys. (Learn more about the organization by clicking here.)
• 10 am Saturday, Feb. 19 — Learn the history of blacks in the West.
• 1 pm Saturday, Feb. 19 — A documentary: Celebrating Legendary Black Westerns narrated by Mario Van Peebles.
• 8 pm Saturday, Feb. 19 — Buck and the Preacher, a film starring Harry Belafonte, Sidney Poitier and Ruby Dee. (Read more about the films here.)
